2011 Mavs 6 Years Later

It's now been six years since the Mavericks took home the 2011 championship. A lot has changed in the league in that time. The Warriors were a bottom feeder than, now they are the envy of every team. LeBron has been to 6 Finals in a row since being vanquished by the Mavs, winning 3 of them, including Cleveland's first title in any sport in 52 years. Once thing that hasn't changed is that regard the 2011 Mavs hold not only among Mavs fans but among fans across the league.
In any era of superteams, the Mavs were the rare champion that featured only one all-star. But that all-star's entire legacy changed with that magic championship run. Dirk is now considered a beloved an all-time great and 2011 is the biggest reason why. Without the title things could be very different. Dirk could have gone elsewhere to chase a ring, but thankfully he didn't end up needing to.
The 2011 Mavericks however were not just a one man gang. Jason Terry, Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler saw their legacies grow as well, and role players such as J.J. Barea and Brian Cardinal became beloved figures among Mavs fans. While those Mavs weren't a superteam, they were a super team.
Moments such as the Mother's Day blowout win over the Lakers to finish off the sweep or the big comeback wins over the Thunder and the Heat are truly memories that can never be taken away. The Mavs didn't just take down any old teams, they beat the biggest names in the league: Kobe, Durant, Westbrook, LeBron, Wade. They did it not win with overwhelming athleticism but with execution built on years of experience and unbelievable play in the clutch, especially from the tall German who still wears #41.
It's hard for me to think that a championship could mean as much to a fanbase as the 2011 title means to Mavs fans. So here 6 years later we should be as grateful as ever about the magic ride we all went on that spring and summer. Let those fans of other teams gloat about their dynasties-to-be, Mavs fans should be thrilled that they got to experience a moment in time that can never be matched.
