With the game tied at 90, Dirk hit a jumper with 2.1 seconds to go in front of the Laker bench and Kobe Bryant to give the Mavs the win. Kobe would then give Dirk a pat on the back in respect.
Stat of the Game
After a high scoring first half which saw the Mavs trail 58-56 at halftime, both teams struggled on offense in the 2nd half culminating in a 15-12 fourth quarter in the Mavs favor.
Of Note
- In what was supposed to be his final game against the Mavericks, Kobe sat out instead with a sore shoulder.
- The Mavs were without Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) and Devin Harris (toe). Salah Mejri got his second straight start at center and had 9 points and 4 rebounds.
- The Mavs have now won 10 straight against the Lakers, one of the longest streaks any team has ever had against L.A.
- Chandler Parsons scored 11 of his 17 points in the first six minutes of the game. He also set a season high with 9 rebounds.
- Dallas had only had 1 turnover in the first half and finished with 6 for the game.
- Barea drew several offensive fouls, including one on Lou Williams with 13.5 seconds left that set up Dirk's heroics.
