After the Magic had cut the Mavs lead to 5 with less than 6 minutes left, coming out of a timeout Monta Ellis finds Tyson Chandler for a dunk with a bullet pass.

The win was the Mavericks 9th straight in Orlando, their longest active road winning streak vs. any opponent.

Of Note
  • Rajon Rondo left the game less than two minutes in with a head injury. It happened when Richard Jefferson's knee accidentally collided with Rondo's face. Rick Carlisle said after the game he would be evaluated when the team returns to Dallas.
  • Chandler Parsons missed his second straight game due to illness. He is expected to return for Monday's game.
  • The win made the Mavericks 13-0 on the road against the East with games left at Atlanta and Indiana. They have won their last 17 dating back to last season.
  • Monta scored 10 points in the Mavs 14-4 run to close out the game.
  • The Mavs 34 first quarter points were more than they scored in the entire first half in Miami.

After Monta Ellis' three point play with 28.6 seconds put the Mavs within 2 points, they force a miss by Derrick Rose, however in a fitting conclusion to the game, Rose secures the rebound to give the Bulls the win.

The Bulls dominated the Mavericks on the glass by a 47-30 margin, including 15 offensive rebounds compared to 21 Dallas defensive rebounds.

Of Note
  • Rajon Rondo did not play the final 5 minutes of the game. After the game Rick Carlisle called it a "coaches decision".
  • Derrick Rose was red hot in the first half, scoring 18 points on 6-8 shooting and hitting all three of his three point attempts. In the 2nd half, he only scored 2 points on 1-9 shooting.
  • The Mavericks stayed in the game by forcing 24 Chicago turnovers, while turning it over only 12 times themselves.
  • Besides Tyson Chandler's 12 rebounds and Dirk's 7, the rest of the Mavs mustered only 11 boards including only 5 from the remaining three starters: Parsons, Rondo and Ellis.
  • The Mavericks never led at any point in the game, but they did briefly tie it twice in the third quarter.

Former Mav Tarpley Dies at 50

In some very sad new, former Maverick big man Roy Tarpley has died at age 50 according to the Dallas Morning News. Tarpley was a very talented player who won the NBA Sixth Man of they Year Award in 1987-88 but his career was unfortunately derailed by drug and alcohol problems.
Tarpley, the 7th overall pick in the 1986 draft played all 280 of his career games for the Mavs, before he was suspended for the league for good in 1995.
