It turns out the Mavericks will have an All-Star after all, and a familiar one at that.
Dirk Nowitzki was named by commissioner Adam Silver to replace the injured Anthony Davis on the Western Conference All-Star team. The All-Star Game will be held Sunday night from Mdison Square Garden in New York.
It is the 13th time in the last 14 years Dirk is in All-Star. Dirk is only the 12th player in history to be named an All-Star at least 13 times joining such names as Abdul-Jabbar, Bryant, Garnett, O' Neal, Duncan, Jordan, Malone, West, Chamberlain, Cousy and Havlicek.
In a statement Dirk said, "It is always an honor to represent the Mavericks at the All-Star
Game. This year it
threw a little bit of a wrench into my plans, but I am very excited.
Even though it was unexpected, I am looking forward to being a part of
the festivities in New York."
