Gian Clavell Signed To Two-Way Deal

After an impressive preseason, the Mavericks today announced they have signed rookie guard Gian Clavell to a two-way contract. Clavell, a 23 year old rookie and native Puerto Rican, averaged 8.8 points, 3.0 and 1.7 assists in 17.5 minutes during the preseason. He was Mountain West Conference Player of the Year last year at Colorado State, avering 20.4 points and 6.3 rebounds a game.
The Mavs have now used both of their two-way slots with Clavell joining Johnathan Motley who signed this summer. This is the first year of the two-way contract where players will split time between their NBA team and its D-League affiliate. The Mavs affiliate is the Texas Legends who play in Frisco. Two-way players can only spend 45 day during the season with their NBA team.
The Mavericks opening night roster is now finalized with 15 players signed to standard contracts and the 2 two-way deals.
