Mavericks Sign Ivan Johnson

The Mavericks added to their roster today by signing free agent forward Ivan Johnson to a contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the contract is expected to be partially guaranteed.
Johnson, 30 spent two years (2011-13) with the Hawks where he averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 125 career games. He played last year in China before playing and starting in all five Mavericks summer league contests. In those games he averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20.8 minutes.
Johnson will compete with summer league teammate Eric Griffin and probably Bernard James for the 15th and final roster spot. If he does not make the team he will most likely play for the Mavericks D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends in Frisco.
