Parsons a Maverick as Rockets Decline to Match Offer Sheet

The Mavericks got some very good news this evening when the Rockets declined to match the Mavs' 3 year, 46 million dollar sheet to restricted free-agent Chandler Parsons, making the 3 year verteran small forward the newest member of the Mavs.
Houston declined to match after signing Trevor Ariza to a 4 year contract and concluding that resigning Parsons would hurt their future cap flexibility.
Parsons now becomes a part of an elite frontline joining Dirk and Tyson Chandler in the Mavs frontcourt.
The Mavs are also adding veteran forward Richard Jefferson on a one year contract for the minimum. Last year for Utah, Jefferson scored 10.1 points per game and shot 41% on threes. He will help replace some of the bench shooting the Mavs lost when Vince Carter signed with Memphis.
Dallas also has a 2.7 cap exception remaining that they could use to sign veteran guard Mo Williams, to provide more shooting off the bench.
