Mavs Sign Barea, Waive Mekel

The Mavericks made it official today, J.J. Barea is back with the Mavericks. The Puerto Rican guard who spent his first five seasons with Dallas, signed after clearing waivers this afternoon. He was waived on Monday by Minnesota after three years with the Timberwolves. To make room for Barea, the Mavs have waived  guard Gal Mekel, who was on the second year of a three year deal. Barea will wear number 5, because his old number 11 is taken by Monta Ellis.
