Mavs vs. Spurs game 4 review

I have to admit, John Hollinger was probably right, the Mavs weren't as good a team as we thought. Through four games the Spurs look like the superior team despite their # 7 seed.

Dallas fell behind the Spurs 3-1 with a 92-89 loss Sunday night. An 11 point halftime lead was erased by a 30-11 third quarter in favor of the Spurs. Dallas was never able to recover.

The Mavs have now lost an astonishing 15 of 17 road playoff games. They let a golden opportunity slip by with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili struggling but once again with Dirk seeing constant hard double-teams the rest of the team could not step up. George Hill stepped up for the Spurs scoring 29 on 11-16 shooting including 5-6 on threes.

The Mavs looked like the oldest team in the league with Jason Kidd and Jason Terry struggling against the Spurs younger and more athletic guards. Caron Butler was given plenty of opportunities but failed to take advantage of them needing 18 shots to score 17 points. Dallas has been outshot badly in the last three games and it is hard to win when that happens, if that don't turn around then the season will be over very soon.
