Deron Williams Is Officially A Maverick

Three years after they failed to sign if a free agent, Deron Williams is coming home to sign with the Mavericks. And while though is he not the same player he was then, the Mavs are still happy to have him.
Williams signed a 2 year, $10 million dollar contract on Tuesday that includes a player option for year two. The Dallas native and The Colony High School grad cleared waivers on Monday after being bought out of the final two seasons of his contract with the Nets. Williams signed that contract in 2012 after he chose the Nets over the Mavs in free agency. Now he will look to turn things around in his hometown after three tumultuous and injury-plagued seasons in Brooklyn.
Before that Williams was three time all-star, two time all-NBA selection and two time gold medalist with Team USA. He had his greatest success in his first 6 1/2 seasons in Utah before he was traded to Nets in 2011. For his career Williams has averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 assists per game.
