Deron Williams To The Mavs?
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Deron Williams is in talks with the Nets on a contract buyout, which would clear the way for him to sign with the Mavs. Williams has $43.3 million left on the last 2 years of the deal he signed with Brooklyn, after he chose the Nets over the Mavs in the Summer of 2012. According to Stein source "It's 60 to 70 percent that Williams winds up in Dallas." Due to injuries Williams has not been the same player for the Nets that he was earlier in his career for Utah, but he would be be a bargain on whatever contract he signed with the Mavs. Williams, 31 of course grew up in Dallas and attended The Colony High School. The three time all-star averaged 13.0 points and 6.6 assists in 68 games last season.
Update: The Nets and Williams have how agreed on a buyout and according to Stein, Williams will sign a 2 year, $10 million contract with the Mavs once he clears waivers.
