Jordan Agrees With Mavs

The Mavericks are on the verge of making the biggest free agent signing in franchise history. DeAndre Jordan and the Mavs are near an agreement on a 4 year, $80 million max contract according to Marc Stein and other reports. The big man, who has played his entire seven year career for the Clippers, was one of the top two available free agents along with LaMarcus Aldridge.
Jordan has been recruited hard by the Mavs, especially by Chandler Parsons with whom he shares an agent. Jordan wants to be a bigger offensive option, something that couldn't happen in LA with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. He has also has had problems getting along with Paul including to numerous reports.
Now in two off-seasons the Mavericks have acquired a new young core of Jordan and Parsons both 26 andWesley Matthews, 28 who agreed to a 4 year deal yesterday. All of this made possible by Dirk taking a tremendous discount last summer.
Jordan, a Houston native who played one season at Texas A&M, led the league last season in both rebounding (15.0) and field goal percentage (.710). He was named both 3rd team All-NBA and 1st team All-Defense.
