Wesley Matthews To Be a Mav

The Mavericks got their first good news of free agency when they agreed in principle on a four year deal with free agent shooting guard Wesley Matthews, formerly of the Blazers. The news was broken by both David Aldridge and Marc Stein. Matthews turned down a lucrative 4 year, $64 million dollar offer from Sacramento to sign with the Mavs for less money. The exact dollar amount of the contract won't be worked out until the Mavericks other major free agent business (DeAndre Jordan) is attended to.
Matthews, 28 is  coming a torn achilles injury in March in a game against the Mavs. His rehab is ahead of schedule and he hopes to be ready to play early in the season. Matthews has developed into one the top two way shooting guards in the league in his time with Portland. He has also been consistently one of the league leaders in made three pointers. His addition is key in a lot of areas, especially in the recruitment of Jordan who he is friends with.
